    Default Pro-Plan Puppy Contamination Issue

On Saturday I bought a large bag of Pro-Plan Large Breed Puppy at PetSmart. When I got it home I poured it into the bin I use to store food. At the very end of emptying the bag several clumps of kibble came out with some sort of contaminate holding them together, I'm not sure what it was but it kind of looked like fur. Upon closer inspection there were also several winged insects mixed in. I took put the impacted portions in a plastic bag and went back to PetSmart and they gave me a new bag immediately, I tossed the rest of what was in the impacted bag.

If I was feeding straight from the bag and not transferring the full bag to a storage container I never would have known until the end. Just and FYI for anyone feeding it to maybe take a closer look.

It might have been totally harmless but I certainly didn't want to take a chance.

Was the new bag okay? That is what Iím feeding my pup but I get it from Chewy. I havenít seen anything just wondering if it was a unique occurrence or more widespread.

I'm sure it was bugs and the "fur" thing was more like their cocoon/webbing, I've had it happen once with a shipment of PP from Amazon. It's a storage issue, wherever it was warehoused at one point, or the store you bought it from, had/have bugs. It happens. More gross than actually dangerous to dogs. Mine were disposed of and Amazon replaced. Plus gave me an extra credit for the expense of having to dispose of the buggy bags and maybe the fact I was semi ticked off at having brought bugs into the house and having to disinfect everything. I don't like bugs.

The new food was fine. Interestingly the bag I bought was the last 34 pound bag they had, when I returned it they gave me two 16 pound bags and some credit since they were out of the 34s. I wonder if it had just sat on the bottom of the shelf for quite a while with new ones being placed on top.

I know PetSmart owns Chewy but I don't know if they share any warehouse space. My brother manages a PetSmart (not near me) and he said they do get pallets with Chewy branded boxes sometimes.
