It is interesting that we, here, can sit and dream up examples of pettyness that seem appropriate for membrs of both parties. I also think that there is much more imagination and creativity here that they seem to have.

    18 US Code 2071

    (b) Whoever, having the custody of any such record, proceeding, map, book, document, paper, or other thing, willfully and unlawfully conceals, removes, mutilates, obliterates, falsifies, or destroys the same, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both; and shall forfeit his office and be disqualified from holding any office under the United States. As used in this subsection, the term “office” does not include the office held by any person as a retired officer of the Armed Forces of the United States.

If the video I posted earlier is correct, you need to read (a) which defines to what "such records" (b) refers, and as I understand it, those records are records which are IN THE ARCHIVES. If Mr. Lehto, esq. is correct, what Ms. Pelosi was given was just a curtesy copy, of which many were given out to folks in the gallery also.
Any doctrine that weakens personal responsibility for judgment and for action helps create the attitudes that welcome and support the totalitarian state.

I agree with HPL. Destruction of a copy of a speech isn't what the US Code refers to.

That being said, if all this crap continues till the SOTU speech next year, Trump might well simply choose not to give her a "courtesy copy".
I'd like to see her get a courtesy copy...with each page laminated.

Not being argumentative, but would she not be considered a" public officer " ? Very curious.
