So true. And hopefully a new anti-viral. My son had both Influenza B and Influenza A (H1N1) this winter. The latter lasted little more than a day as we got him on Tamiflu immediately. I won't argue vaccines, but in my experience, it does seem to lessen the effects of the virus.

Good point! Unfortunately, a lot of Americans will lose their businesses out of this also....

The real issue is that the thing expands exponentialy. Just because there were only one or two cases a few days ago means nothing about the future number of cases. Friday that state of Alabama had no cases. Monday we had one case. At 7:30 this morning we had 6 cases. The report at 2:30 PM is 20 cases.

None of us here, even Marvin, remember the flu epidemic is 1918. In just the US there were about 675,000 deaths. About 500 million people worldwide were affected. This one is more brutal and with the more dense population, we could very easily reach that level in the Us. What may save us is that while we don't have a "cure", supportive medicine is better. Still, the demand for medical equipment will be massive and I doubt we we have the production capacity to satisfy the demand. The economy in this country is too interwoven and dependent on "just in time" production. One or two broken links will be all that is needed to really cause a collapse.

Sure seems to me that the major concentrations of this are in either "sanctuary cities and/or sanctuary states!!!!!

Social distancing sucks. On the bright side, Mrs. Sherry encouraged me yesterday by pointing out her forward thinking vision on the matter. She said, "You've been complaining about it for over three months, but aren't you glad the two of us began our social distancing practices in December?"

    Anecdote;

I went steelhead fishing last Sunday.
Went to the gym Monday morning.
By Monday pm had a cough.
By Tuesday am, had a cough and runny nose, skipped the gym.
By Wednesday am I had a really bad cough and a fever.
By Wednesday pm I was feeling pretty bad.
We broke the fever and every thing started improving.
(I really have no other health issue, except being old an frail)

    Fast forward to yesterday.

Mr. Dr. advises I just lay low and self "Q."
    So I am.

Binging on NCIS, 30 on 30 and Chicago PD.
Plus running walking baseball/singles with Elvis.

Still have a mild cough and runny nose.
(pretty much SOP for WI at this time of year)

Almost everything around here (in WI) is shutting down or cutting back.

I may well have had a touch of this virus, in fact, I believe I did.
I DID have a flu shot this year.

    How about youse??

JMO: There is more to this story than we are being told, this virus has been here a while.
I know lots of folks who have complained of being sick with these symptoms for a couple weeks and more.

I think I'm always going to have PND (post nasal drip) due to having very sensitive olfactory glands and living back in SoCal has exposed me to grasses and trees I haven't been around in years...The cough I sometimes have is caused by the beta blocker that I take...had my lungs check on every medical visit and they are clear and strong...FTR: I always get a flu shot and the gave me the pneumonia shot just as a precaution last week because I am in that age group

    The crazies are out....

As of 3/18/20 the State of Kansas has 17 cases of Coronavirus and one reported death! Yesterday the newly elected Governor closed all schools in Kansas through the end of 2020. She is a retired school teacher.....

Missouri has 16 confirmed cases with no deaths...

Website below for up to date state by state information. I did not verify this data....

See my post #101 - the issue is Stan, that without getting tested, you will not know if you did indeed have the virus or if you still have to worry about getting it. No one is saying if you have immunity either if you did get it ??
