Default AKC Recommendations re covid 19

If you did not get the email from AKC they have posted recommended practices for all events - including FTs and HTs - in response to the covid 19 epidemic. You can find those here: https://www.akc.org/press-center/cov...best-practices

    Whistles are banned?
That will not be well received.

Whistles are not banned. Specifically, Event Practices, paragraph 9 states: "Anyone on the line should maintain adequate distance from the handler as blowing a whistlecould potentially project a vapor."

How sad is it that one person could wield such power thru ignorance.
I suggest that discussion of these guidelines should not be terminated. Come on Stan, be an Adult. -Paul

A set of guidelines is presented by someone of authority (The American Kennel Club) whose rules and regulations we agree to uphold and is the immediate response to discuss those guidelines? Not in today’s environment where virtually everything is politicized, the first thing is to misstate, belittle, and demean.

I’m encouraged that events are being held in some places and look to be able to be held in others places soon. There is reasonableness in what the AKC is suggesting.

I dd not receive this letter, thanks for posting Bob.
Agree that this is a logical, well-executed step by the AKC. There were some suggestions that I would not have thought of.
A whole lot better than a blanket prohibition.

AKC recommendation says to have hand-washing stations available. I thought it was NOT a good idea to have a centralized area for hand washing. Regardless, it seems each person should bring his/her own hand washing items. Clubs are trying to make plans to host events--both Hunting Tests and Field Trials. In some states, restaurants are open so we can feed our judges, and outdoor gatherings are allowed. Hopefully each person can be responsible for his or her self, maintain appropriate distancing and bring all necessary PPE so we all can enjoy an uneventful event.
