    Default Insulin and Diabetes

I was very happy that the administration addressed the out of control costs of Insulin and other diabetes medication, since I have a sister, brother , and a nephew afflicted by the disease which affects millions across the country both Type I and II

But what irritated me the most were the lack of any concern by the media in the Rose Garden afterwards, only one "gotcha type question" where some reporter asks "..Mr President are you saying that everyone should be taking insulin.." I mean how stupid to even ask that question. But every reporter starting with J. Roberts from Fox News asked questions as far away from the insulin subject as you could get.

If this were any other POTUS the media would be falling all over themselves touting what this administration has just done for one of the biggest affliction/diseases in our country

If you have someone in your family with diabetes you understand the importance of bringing down the costs, especially for seniors

I know for a fact that Jardiance and other diabetes medications were the most fraudulently prescribed medications used in LV by my fellow union members. the scam was for the union member who was healthy to get a Dr to prescribe the costly medication for an elderly family member thru the member's union benefits

The simple fix would be to allow for mail order purchases from Canada (where insulin is an over the counter drug) or anyplace else of ones choosing. That should've been done years ago.

Thanks to Bush's prescription plan. Always costs rise rapidly when controlled by the government. Before the prescription plan, my copay for a box of insulin was about $38. 5 boxes lasted me 3 months. Needles cost me $31 a box of 100 and I would use about 120 per month. My Medicare copay on 10 boxes of insulin and 10 boxes of needles that last 6 months, had a copay and deductable of about $1,600 this year. By the way, a box of needles now cost about $120 when I could previously simply buy them at $31 before prescription coverage and the needles are even cheaper made today that before. Trump's numbers seem far less than my experience.

I have no idea why such a rise in price but it seems that this is always the result of government involvement.

you would think so....same with getting them from Mexico...I used to get my son's medication from Algodones MX across from Yuma AZ before I got coverage from the union, It was the same stuff made by US manufacturers, except the instructions were either in French or Spanish. For example a 250 count btl of Amoxcillin out me less than $10 , and Allegra and Zyrtec which used to be script only were less than $20 per dozen pills
