Default ~ Not To Scale ~

~ Not To Scale ~ A reptilian play on words, I found this Garter Snake basking in the sunlight near the foundation of my home this afternoon.

    Cheers,

Nice Mike , beats the picture I just took of the same on my phone the other day! I went down to our creek to check the beaver dam progress and was standing on the bank edge, looked down and almost perfectly camoflage noticed a garter snake resting beside me. It was alive but frozen, not moving, except for its tongue. I noticed it had a red chunk out of its tail so wondered if it had gotten dropped by a raptor? I wrote it down in my nature journal just the same.

    Very nice pic.

Great play on words Mike! It is the snake (and turtle) time of year for sure. Saw four today. One, I am pretty sure was a cottonmouth, due to short body... but could have been a black rat snake... moved in front of the four wheeler pretty quick so that's just an educated guess. Also two water snakes and one orange striped ribbon snake which I was hoping to catch and photograph, but he eluded me.... Couple days ago I saw a copperhead that my husband was about to step on.... I think copperheads are really the most beautiful snakes there are... but... they can be beautiful somewhere far from my house and puppies/dogs.
The way I look at it, every dog is an opportunity to be a better trainer, and every day is a new day to be a better trainer to the same dog we trained yesterday.

Thanks Mate. Copperheads are certainly beautiful snakes, but not in proximity to your dogs.
