    Default Puppy Shipping

I purchased a new pup and need to have it shipped from Little Rock, Arkansas to Portland, Oregon. Anyone have ideas on a reliable airline ??? Thanks ...

Delta is usually pretty good. Weather restrictions are going to be the limiting factors. Best way to ship a pup is for you to fly with it in the cabin. Pup must be small enough to fit in an underseat carrying bag.

The weather restrictions is more about the temperature of any point the dog will be on the tarmack.

Ideally, you want her on the earliest flight out. Little Rock may have to go through Dallas-Fort Worth, so you will have to have her out of DFW before the temp gets to high.

Another option is to use a "dog transport" company.
Give "Redwing Hound Haulers" a call.

Continental doesn't have temp restrictions but they are limited in where they fly direct.

Yeah, they are the only ones with a climate controlled cabin...

All animals shipped via cargo go in pressurized parts of the cargo area, the temp restrictions are for on the ground, when loading/unloading. Continental uses heated/cooled transport from the terminal to the jet, that's why no temp restrictions.

I've had great luck with continentals pet safe program. their customer service has been easy to deal with while making arrangements for the flight and their persons at the drop off location seem to handle the dog/pup with care and concern.

Just shipped one from Salt Lake City to NO La, on Delta and was very pleased puppy even got in two hours early. Cost was 265.00. American was much cheaper, however, Delta was the only one that would let me pay upon pick up.

I'm shipping one to NOLA in two weeks via Delta and hoping the temps down there aren't going to cause us problems, she said it's been in the 80's-90s. Continental would mean a transfer in Houston, so we're going to play it by ear and reschedule if we have to, rather than risk a transfer. It is hard for us northerners to grasp high temps in May when we are having snow and frosts still. I wasn't happy when Delta bought NWA as I've had such good shipping with NWA but so far, Delta has been okay, knock on wood.
