Default Looking for a Trainer in Kansas City Area

    Hello all,

My brother-in-law is looking for a trainer for his 6mo old BLM. He primarily hunts waterfowl but if the dog shows promise would be interested in running some HT and possible field trial. He is about an hour or so south of KC, Mo and would like to stay fairly local so that he can work with the trainer a bit too since this is his first dog.

Post up or PM if you have recommendations or are interested and I will forward them on to him.

    Thanks in advance
    Mark

Can't do better than Mr. Bill Eckett @ Blackwater Retrievers.

Eckett primarily trains FT dogs only. For hunting dog/HT dog I would go with Gordy Weigel at Bur Oak Retrievers, Dan Heard (once he is back from LA on winter trip), or call Evan Graham and see if he knows of some more reputable trainers in the area.

Thanks Raina! How are the pups?

Already forwarded Gordy's info. I had forgotten about Dan though. Might be kind of interesting as this pup is a grandson of Downtown Cooter Brown. Now that you mention it I know that Evan had a trainer here in KC that he works with. Just can't remember his name off the top of my head.

Thanks again for all the input and PM's

I will second Dan Heard with Downtown Retrievers. He will be back from LA next week.

Pups are growing like crazy! Looking to find homes for a black and a yellow male, considering YRP program or selling extremely cheap just so they can go to a home that will title them.
