dummy launcher

5 month old pup, absolutely crazy about retrieving I feel this dog would go through hot coals for a retrieve. We don't have many gun ranges where I live and shooting off a gun is a big no no. Could I use a dummy launcher instead of a starter pistol? If so what is the best one to start off on...
