My pup is now 7 months and finished teething about 2 weeks ago.

I just started teaching hold this past Monday under the guidance of an experience trainer. He showed me the first steps on Monday night.

Since Wednesday morning I've been able to tap the object with my finger that she's holding and she won't drop it. Last Night She jumped up to a 1 minute hold without a correction.

This is my first attempt at training a retriever but it seems to me she's picking this up very quickly.

Just wanted to toot my own horn a bit Probably just cursed myself LOL!

that's really super. Sometimes I feel like hold is almost worse than FF... Because it can be so sloppy to start if the dog is uncomfortable and wants to push the bumper around, turn their head, etc.

Sounds like you've done a great job and have a cooperative student. Keep it up!

Great! Just be sure you do not let early success fool you into a less than adequate job of FF. I have seen a lot of dogs that seemed to have an easy time of this and the trainer, thinking every thing had set in does not completely finish the job as it should be done.

Good work! The first dog you take through the trained retrieve can be a little intimidating. It sounds like you're off to a great start. Good for you for someone experienced to help you!

Yeh I'm listening to my teacher very closely. I want to complete FF part so we can go back and correct some errors in training on my part. Then get into the fun stuff.

I can't wait to show off on Monday night
