I knew it was a 500 ton crane before I ever read you post. OK I looked at the pictures first. My guess would have been Grove though. Pretty cool pictures, thanks for sharing.
They have a 550 Grove on the other side of the refinery. With the Leibherr having the wings & superlift on it, it out charts that Grove. The problem with Groves are the booms are so damn heavy. There's usually a lot of deflection in the boom when making a lift & they simply aren't as good compared to Liebherrs & certainly not a Tadano. Those Japs have it figured out when it comes to smaller truck cranes & pickers. You're welcome. Glad ya liked it.
It's a lot of fun. Then again I'm more than confident in the operator & rigging. That guy chasing the hook in front of the crane is pretty good.
Hope the pay fits the job. You couldn't pay me enough to get in that.
I don't have Kippy Swingle money, but I don't work for minimum wage. That said, there are people out here who won't go up in 1. To me it's the preferred way.
Dude, the hair on the back of my neck was straight just looking at the pics. What do ya do if ya have to pee?
LOL. Hold it. If you come by Conoco in the next few weeks ya might see me up there. All depends on the wind. When that man basket goes up, I'm in there.
Jacob power to you!!! Count me out!
Aaron
LOL. Come on now. Who needs the fair when you get to do that @ work?
Cool Pictures! I do have one question. Where is the anti 2 block?
Thanks. Good question. You couldn't see it in the previous pics, but it's there. We have to have Clay (The operator.) run the basket all the way up to test it each morning before we can get in it. I had to zoom in all the way to take this one. Sorry for the poor quality.
This explains a lot about you and your curious postings during the college football season. You are plain nuts. I would die of fright if someone just threatened to send up there.
I promise you, Jacob loves Jacob. He's not going to do something to get himself hurt. Sure it's high, but the rigging & crane is good for many times more than we would ever have in the basket. There's also a wire choker that's shackled on the cable above the becket. That's a safety backup that you must have when using personnel baskets.
There's no way I'd be up that high. I almost had a stroke just looking at the pictures.
LOL.
He makes it rain.

Looks like a cool job to have.
Nah. That would be messed up. It can be fun. Other times it sucks. For the 1st time in awhile I'm actually enjoying my job.
So what are you doing in your elevator to heaven?
Talking to the operator on the radio. I volunteered to be the rigger on this job in the shutdown. I have to flag him to where we need to go.
