After the recent and untimely death of my YLM Ike I've come to the following conclusions: 1) I can miss him all I want and it won't bring him back. 2) This waterfowl and retriever addiction that I have is not going away so... having said that, I'm starting to think about another pup. I will likely get another pup from my current breeder but I've been looking hard at some of the recent Patton litters. Other than his obvious accomplishments I was looking for some input from the membership to see if you think a pup out of him for waterfowling / upland and possibly some limited HTing would fit my bill. I'm looking for a breeding to a nice SR or MH bitch. I like a dog with an on off switch. He will be a house dog and family pet as well as my partner in the field. I'm looking for a black male with solid looks and conformation (no whip tails and /or pointy heads) just your old fashioned classic lab look. I'm hoping that Patton is a non-vocal dog and would hope that the bitch would be the same (whining is like nails on a chalk board in a duck blind) I hope I'm not asking too much / I don't think I am. Heck, I'm not even sure if breeders would sell a pup of that caliber to a guy who mainly hunts. Looking for some input.

Thanks, Danny

Patton is a very nice dog. He has looks, intelligence and is very biddable. And, he has a sense of humor. Patton hunts and is a house dog as well. Patton is bred to a variety of females, and if you call Deb Bredeson, Patton's mom, she can tell you about the litters on the website, as well as more about Patton himself. Patton has kids in his house as well as a St. Bernard! Deb is a very nice person, loves her dog, and is easy to talk to.

I don't want to talk you out of a Patton pup but....Ruger may fit the bill for you a little better. He is one of the best looking dogs in the FT circuit and was totally amateur trained. I have one that is very biddable and the best looking pup I have ever owned. She is very quiet and the mom is actually out of Cosmo!

Thanks for the replies. I love the look of Patton and his personality sound a lot like the pup I lost. Does anyone know of upcoming Patton litters in the late spring or summer?(a nice repeat breeding would be great) Are there any health issues that I need to be concerned with? Mike, As for Ruger I checked his name and I couldn't find it on the white list. Maybe I'm not putting his name in correctly. Does he have a web site or any pictures floating around out there?

Thanks, Danny

I talked with Lynn last night Ruger's owner and she is not sure why he is not on the white list and is having a hard time getting in touch with Marylin and the folks in France. She does have the CNM #'s if anyone wants them.

Also as far as a pup with an on/off switch and classic looks Ruger's pups fit that bill for all of them that I have seen. It also sounds like you want to train the dog yourself Ruger is also a good sire considering Lynn has trained him from a pup on up. Qaa before 2 with 2 straight wins!
