I just read an article about a Youtube video where a golden owner threw his puppy into a pool so he could film the mother "rescuing" it.

Absolutely appalling.

The link to the article is below.

If people want the Youtube link I will post it but prefer not to since the poster, Petsami, clearly posted the Youtube video to get more views.

Im not sure what people were seeing that made it look like abuse or a serious matter. From the 32 second clip this is what I took from it. Two Goldens in a home with a pool. The pup is about 3-4 months old, which is plenty old enough for a Retriever pup to be fearless near water. The cement around the pool is dry so this is the first trip into the pool in awhile. The clip starts off with the pup in the pool about 5' 6' feet from the edge with a big splash ( A pup that age can jump that far on its own) . So people are guessing it was thrown.. I think we can all agree the pup either JUST jumped or was thrown, ( big splash as the clip starts), it wasn't in there for any amount of time before the clip started. The older dog ( which in fact is a male) jumps in too, I do think he had concern for the pup which was having trouble with the edge, but I dont feel the pup was in any IMMEDIATE danger, if he couldnt get out that ime I think it would've tried swimming to the left ( easy exit 8' away) or the right. I also don't think the people would've let the pup tire out before helping. Just another case of people not knowing the whole story or having personal experience to figure out what was happening and over re acting. My self, I'd like to see a long clip of this surface and prove all the guesser's wrong.

The video seems to start with a large splash that certainly makes it look like the pup was thrown in the pool.
I'm not trying to start a fight, but to prove a point of perspective, my guess is the next photo after your Avatar pic would show a dog a fair ways from the shore in a big splash, and if someone didnt know your dog or what happened a second before that pic, they may surmise the same as they are about this clip

The rescuer is indeed a male, and I bet he's done it before. The puppy can obviously swim, but can't get out of the pool

What did I miss? I didn't see a pup being thrown in the water, or being abused or even being in any sort of danger.

Every retriever I ever saw go into the pool for the 1st time had some trouble learnig to swim to the steps or the ladder. I thought the older dog giving the assist was kind of cool though.

Shh! don't give away my secrets on how I water force. ;-) I am glad I don't have a bigger dog this one s tough enough to throw.;-)Some people might think throwing a lab with only two legs (notice he doesn't have any back legs) into a pond is wrong but he seems to enjoy it.;-)

I think it looks like a set up. Must of happened before and they are recreating the situation for a video moment. The one I saw on u tube called the older dog the mother. I'm more impressed that the mother dog was able to have gender reassignment surgery so soon after delivery. I guess that is why she/he did not jump as far as the puppy.
