:D I'm old but still a lot younger than White Knight & Lanse Brown!!! :D

I also remember sitting at a table in a dance hall in San Angelo TX with a scraggly haired blonde that was invited to the bandstand to sing a song.

You may have heard of Tammy Wynette. George Jones certainly has. :D

Fifties

Thanks Jerry...good timing. I have a class of '57 committee meeting tonight (50th yet). Those were the days for sure. Gas for my 40 Ford rod was only 27 cents a gallon and rarely did we put more than a bucks worth in at a time. Probably cause that's all we had! We didn't have a Dairy Queen, as in the clip. The place to be around here was the local root beer stand Drive In where the car hops were on roller skates. Always packed on Fri. and Sat. Nights. Good times!
Cruising Regards....

That was great and I remember most of that. My dream car was a black convertible '57 Chevy. I was too young for a poodle skirt, but I can remember having 13 cents and getting enough gasoline in my Spitfire to get home from college from across town because gas wars still brought gas down to 25 cents a gallon. I even remember watching Ike walk into the 1952 Republican convention on TV at a neighbors apartment because my Dad wouldn't allow a TV in the house and when he did get TV, Elvis on Ed Sullivan, American Bandstand, and cherry phosphates at the soda fountain for a nickel where we got refills and penny candy in a big display.

Nancy, there is a drug store in Memphis TX that I THINK still sells Cherry Phosphates.

Some summers I spent a week with my Aunt & Uncle and I know the old drugstore is still alive and kickin. A classmate of my older brothers was the Pharmacist there the last time I stopped.

Jerry where at in San Angelo? I was at a dance hall in San Angelo and got invited on a bus to do some drinking with a group of guys out on one of their first tours - The Kentucky Head Hunters. I am trying to remember the bars name it was right off one of the main drags in town.

I know which one you are talking about but it became a dance hall after we moved. I believe that street is Beauregard. Pretty close to San Angelo College.

My experience was at the Boots & Saddle way out on the Highway on the other side of town. Further out than the Dixie Club.

Further USELESS information is that I met Sweet Bride at the Twist Club when she was in college and I was in the Air Force!!! :D :D

Small world.

Just a guess, but the bar in San Angelo wasn't named Santa Fe Junction was it? Don't see many references on RTF to West Texas.

BTW Jerry, finishing up marking on over 400 calves this afternoon. Tomorrow isn't going to be fun.

Sante Fe Junction it was.

Jerry my AFSC was 306x3 and also 306x5 the AF modled two sepcialties into one. I was in the Communications Squadron working in the SCIF. I really enjoyed my time in San Angelo. Loved to fish at Lake NastyWater (Nasworthy) and Twin Buttes.

I attended my first and only rattle snake round up in the San Angelo Colesium.

Spent many pay checks at a little off base bar called the Lone Wolfe - throwing darts and drinking beer.

I was a student in 6941st when I met Sweet Bride. Came back after 4 years in Alaska as an Instructor in 6940th TTG.

I still love San Angelo.
