Does anyone know if the AKC allows a dog name to be more than 30 spaces long? I have a name in mind for my pup but its a couple of spaces over 30 including blanks.

I have the same problem. I did call the number on the form and was told there was no exceptions. The lady didn't seem to sure of herself though. If you get a chance to call and inquire, let me know your outcome.

Dog Name

I had a name in mind and it was over 30 characters. I took out the spaces. I still got to use the name I wanted. Just an idea.

You think if I added my own boxes' and sent it in and someone caught it they would kick it back to me or use the 30 letters in the original boxes? I am willing to try yo make my own boxes but I dont want them to cut off the end of my pups name and it look really stupid.

I had emailed AKC and asked this same question - here is what I got for a reply.

Hello

AKC requires that you keep the name to 30 letters counting spaces. If
you are registering the dog online you can not deviate from that. If
you mail in the dog registration application, then you can go over 1 or
2 spaces. If the name is too long, it will simply not fit and the name
will be cut off when printed.

If a reply is necessary, please include all previous correspondence
.

This is pretty funny. I know several people that went over by more than 3 spaces. And never got theirs cut off.

And they also say that you can't use Roman numerals as well(when I tried to use an X), but some are still getting away with it. And I tried it 2 years ago.

I think it is the person entering the information in the database, or however they do it. :? Have also heard you can get away with more registering online, but I haven't ever tried this route.

The name was Meherrin Rivers Bored Out Diesel and if you cut off the end of diesel it looks pretty ridiculous
I guess if the AKC says you can get away with two more than thats all I need.
