Someone asked me about registering a dog with AKC if you have lost the papers and have lost contact with the breeder. I am not sure of all the details, but is seems they bought a dog and just never sent in the paperwork. I cannot remember if there is a time limit or how one would go about registering a dog in this situation. I am guessing the dog is about 2 years old now.
Any help?

Contact the AKC. They will get you in contact with the breeder IF they have any current address/email on them.

Needed to do this on a puppy client. They did give me their info to contact them

Thanks. I think this is a lost cause and probably for the better. It is a boxer and the guy has not bothered to register it since he got it….4 years ago! He decided he want to breed
No clearances, papers…….
When I told him I though it was not a good idea and that AKC was probably not going to happen he asked about my favorite……ConKC

This is news to me! I'm so excited that, well, I just don't know what to do. To start with I think I'll request a picture and at least a three generation pedigree, OFA Good hips, CERF clear eyes and Condition of teeth, natural or store bought.

I will have one of the two previous breedings with me at the National Meeting, so I can be considered a proven stud, even though that was 47 years ago. My only request is PATIENCE, and lots of. Cleo lost hers years ago. Oh, the thought of being out for stud again! GEEEEEEEEZE, Bill

Definitely - he is proven and has produced 2 champions from his previous breedings (that I'm aware of). (Disclaimer - NO GUARANTEES)

We will require a financial report, picture, copy of the Pedigree and Hip and Eye clearances. Want to keep the line as clean as possible. He comes from great stock. :)

Unfortunately, I have no breedable females at our place at the moment. I will put this information in our files should we hear of someone looking for an excellent stud.

I know his disposition is wonderful. He seems as if he would be adaptable considering how well y'all made it through the Hurricane a couple of years ago. And he seems to be fairly easy to handle since for all the times I've seen y'all out and about, I've never seen you have to give a correction. He seems eager to please. Was he easy to train?

I know some of those qualities can be learned behaviors but I believe the propensity for learning is inherited.

Easy to train? NO - he is still in training after 53 years but he is steady and somewhat eager to please. His sweet Mother and great Dad tried so hard and then threw up their hands and gave him to me. He has mellowed with age but it sure would have been welcome at an earlier stage of training. I will admit that it has been a fun challenge even if we never get a CH on him.

Oh, Cleo, you are too modest. Bill is a Champion in every regard. All kidding aside, you lucked out and got your self a good one.....one of those once in a life time experiences, and I know you know it.
