I go ahead and leave. By the time I run I have seen plenty of the dogs run, and with a 90 dog field and I am in the middle it may be the next day before the second series starts. I often drop by the Qual and the Open to see what their set-ups are before leaving though.

That's the thing I've figured out with FTs - you are in good company whether you are out in the first or in till the 4th - it doesn't bother me to go home without a ribbon in a FT, guess its the nerd in me and I can logically justify that only a few will get one. Thin about it even in a 80 dog stake only 5% will get any points. Unlike some games, not everyone gets a ribbon just for showing up and warming the bench! ;)

Yeah, yeah there are times we all feel like we got screwed but there are also times I know someone else got screwed cause I had a little bit of luck on my side, but all in all it evens out in the end.

I also look at it this way, if I go out in the first, that gives me a few extra days to train vs. the other guy who makes it to the 4th - besides if I keep going out in the first maybe I should be out training vs. trialing or I need a new dog!

depends

Depends on if it`s early enough to cancel the hotel room! If not stick around watch the rest of the dogs, maybe run as test dog, wait for the tailgate and drink some cold beer!

I'd like to see one like this that asks what someone does at a club training day after they get done running their own dogs!
Many are called, a few work or something like that

It depends. (Copyright, LVL).

USUALLY I want to hang. There are very few things if any that I enjoy more than being around other retriever folk. I have a lot to learn, and there are brains to be picked.

BUT, if I am pissed enough, which is very rare, I have been known to just take off.
