This was taken from another list.

>>Last night, a fella down near the MN/IA border was raided and 60+ labs were taken. This fella breeds & trains dogs for hunting. The news reports didn't say whether he had dogs belonging to others or not.<<

Anyone know if it is true?

Authorities seized nearly 60 Labrador retrievers, spaniels and pointers that had been living in unsanitary conditions in a rural Jackson County commercial breeding farm.

Two dogs were found dead and six might have to be destroyed, said Keith Streff, director of investigations for the Animal Humane Society. Many of the other dogs were sick, but they can treated and eventually adopted, he said.

"The buildings didn't have adequate ventilation and the dogs were living in three inches of liquid feces," Streff said.

The dogs were removed after two customers complained to local authorities and the Humane Society about the condition of the breeding compound, which consists of several old farm buildings, Streff said.

Streff helped craft a bill to create regulations and inspections for commercial breeders, but it hasn't received a committee hearing.

Charges are being considered.

"They were watching these dogs die right in front of their eyes," he said.
