Back in the mid 60's I took a little side road North of Butte & about 2 Miles NW of the trial grounds
to do a little grouse hunting. Had our sheepdog with me & a model 42 .410 shotgun. Wandered
around & must have come off of one of the knobs on the wrong side. Found us next to a willowy
swamp that showed evidence of moose. No trees of any size to climb. knew the dog would head
to me if they encountered one. Distanced myself from there as fast as I could & very happy to get
back to the jeep without seeing one. If you've worked with cattle you know how big & dangerous a
moose can be.

Long gone - traded for a scope for my .06.
I bought it used, not in mint condition.
Smallest gun is a 28 gauge for quail.

Marvin, HPL would likely make a grammar call that writing "a model 42 410" is a redundancy.
To my knowledge it is the only designed as and never offered in anything but 410.

A man's stripes can be earned in many ways BUT, in my opinion, a waterfowler's pelts are no
better than muskrat quality until he skins a limit of greentoppers standing on the shady side of
a pin oak with a 42!

HPL would be correct, at least for folks knowledgeable about guns, not all people are.
But I will say, sorry my financial circumstances weren't better. Sitting beside you in a dinghy
while you hid behind a tree & shot those greenheads would have been worth free delivery.
