This was a sad situation. From what I remember in the local news, this was an ongoing issue.

Years back I remember a similar situation happened in Boston. I believe it was a BC student. A few students were walking along and one ran along and slid across the hood of a car waiting for a red light. The guy got out of the car and shot and killed him.

The real cautionary tale here is that society no longer teaches a respect for others. Some amongst us have such a sense of property and property ownership and the effort that they put into the gathering or owning those items that their pride of ownership is worth more to them than another’s life.

Justifiable…absolutely not. A reality of life…it appears to be.

Or maybe it's that young folks today have no respect for other people's property. I work hard to have a nice house and a nice lawn, and I'll be damned if the whole neighborhood is going to walk through my yard to get to the park behind my house. Luckily for me I have never had to ask anyone twice to walk the extra 50 ft down to the sidewalk. This type of thing is the same as hunting without landowner permission. Trespassing plain and simple. It's sad that a 15 yr old got shot, but I'm guessing the kid isn't as innocent as everyone is making him out to be. That being said the shooter should, and will, live the rest of his life in a jail cell.
