We just moved to Newark, Deleware a couple of days ago and I need to find the best vet to X-Ray (hips and elbows for OFA) my pup who turned two on July 2nd. She is a wild thing but I would like to have the X-Rays without sedation. I am willing to drive to the best in the area. Thanks in advance.

Don't know how close you are to Blue Bell, PA, but I took my dog to Steinbach Veterinary Hospital. They did an excellent job and did not use anethesia. The number there is 215-646-0462.

Dr. Craig Stonesifer owns the practice. Craig is a well known Field Trialer. He would definitely know what needs to be done for good OFA films!

Dr. Stonesifer and his family have been actively engaged in retriever competition since 1974, locally and nationally. As a member of Del Bay Retriever Club he has served as board member, Event Chairman and President. Nationally, Dr. Stonesifer is on the board of directors of the National Retriever Club and served as Chairman of the National Retriever Championship in 2009 in Dover, Delaware.

BTW, welcome to the area. You will have lots of opportunities for AKC Hunt Tests and Field Trials in your "back yard"!! I would suggest that you join the DelBay Retriever Club. You can find information about the club at http://www.delbayretrieverclub.org/ along with a downloadable Membership Application. :)

Tracy,
While we all love Dr Craig, if you're looking for the very best orthopedic vets in the area to shoot your film the winner hands down would be http://vosm.org/
They are located just outside of Baltimore. Dr Sherman Canapp is the man.

I take both of my dogs to Middletown Veterinary Hospital just south of Middletown. I have not had any issues and feel that their prices are reasonable. I have not taken them my dog to get OFA certified, but I know it is available there. Let me know if you would like their contact information.
