Well, BOB!

Let's see its okay to have one in December but not late February?

Dec. MAX AVG MIN
MAX TEMP 68 50 39
MEAN TEMP 56 40 34
MIN TEMP 43 30 23

Feb.
MAX 73 55 38
MEAN 59 45 35
MIN 53 34 22

Mar.
MAX 76 60 37
MEAN 62 48 35
MIN 56 36 22

All of these temperatures were from the week of the 15th of there given month. So enlighten us some more on your knowledge of our climate here in North Carolina. I talked to a pro who went and ran a Master Test this weekend in Maryland and said there was snow on the ground. Maybe they should have called the test off because of real conditions? There might be some big names that don't show up, but you can bet the ones that do will have a good trial!

If I had the data (which I don't), my focus would be on the water temps (while considering the air temps).

My opinion only, but mid Feb in NC generally isn't ideal FT weather. Do you think it is?

In case anyone wants to know, the water temp on avg is only about 5 degrees cooler in Feb than it is in Dec. This also depends on the water that your running in (source, depth, sunlight, etc...). Not sure that 5 degrees is enough for anybody to get upset about. If we waited for the "IDEAL FT weather" we might only have 3 FT a year in NC. So my opinion is, if you don't like the weather during the FT, then just don't go, wait for "IDEAL" conditions.

If anyone would know what the ground temps and water temps would be it would be Brandon. He used to grow that short green grass for a living. When you do that you have to know the temps of everthing around the grass to get it to grow in NC.

Hey Brandon I hope ya'll have it in Feb. and not June. But I will be there either way.

Have a merry christmas.

About a half dozen years ago a licensed trial was held on the west coast of Canada in the month of February. One day before the trial there was 2-3 inches of snow and another 1 inch the day of the trial. The weather was fine. The good dogs did the work and the not so good dogs bailed on the water blind and one or two of the marks.
A year later in February, 4th series water blind, 8 dogs into the last series 4 bailed on the water blind, 4 did not.
Take what they give or don't enter. If you do enter be prepared for the cold water testing. I'll stop short of how to train for cold water as this is not the forum/section for this type of discussion.
