I am a hunt tester and hunter, but I am incredibly greatful to you field trialers for improving the breed so much. With that said, I have always heard about "a lot" of field trialers that were black purists. Some that were Black and Yellow only, and some that said color made no difference if the bloodlines and ability were there. So, how many of you are still Black purists, or anti- chocolate or yellow or whatever. I think we can all safely say we are anti-silver.

Black dog here.I really like them all(Black,Yellow,Chocolate)but I also like to joke and make fun of the other colored dogs with my friends that have them. What else is there to do if there are no Goldens or Chessies around.I was talking about this with the breeder of my dog and he told me that it was always good to keep a yellow or chocolate in the kennel. It keeps the flies off the good dogs. :) Note: Before You all fry me,remember I'm joking.

that's hilarious. I actually trained the other day at a spot where the horse flies were terrible. They got on me and all of my dogs. It was ridiculous.

KG, that sounds like a tongue in cheek question, but I really would like to know. Do you feel like he hurt the breed or helped it? Why? You can pm if you don't want to tick anyone off.

Richard is the "Brown Dog Afficianado." He can comment more intelligently about Rascal's contribution to the breed than I can.....pro and con.

I am a bit disturbed, though, that the lowest common denominator in determining a dog's worth/contribution could be the revenue he would generate from stud fees due to his color.

I thought another chocolate won NFC a few years ago?? Don't follow it closely so I could be wrong. I would like to hear more about Rascal -- seems that there is a negative association with his breedings??

So, Rascal produced a Canadian National champ? That's pretty good. I would still like to know what KG is getting at.

And Paul, is that a GSP in your avatar? :p

Rascal's real contribution might be in his grand cildren. There were some good dogs wen bred to Tayduh who also threw good dogs with Lean Mac. The common denominator in these breedings is the dam. Other than the '00 CNFC and a couple titled dogs, I think he was bred more for color than ability. Con would be a genetic carrier of a problem.

I personally dont care what color they are as long as they bring back the chickens. My rationaL SELF TELLS ME THAT SINCE IT IS A LONG SHOT TO GET a real player in field trials; and statistics show that going with a black dog can help lower those odds.
