Just wanted to post up that NAHRA has started a campaign to bring back members who have 'strayed from the pack'. You can see details on www.nahranews.org
NAHRA really is a teriffic organization and IMO gives the best all around hunting retriever in one test, meaning that they incorporate a trail, and upland hunt into the tests (Intermediate and Senior).
New members are always welcome as well :) Complete rules and regs can be seen on the site listed above.

Dave-

I wasn't going to start a thread, but since you did...

... I truly liked NAHRA & Kate loved it. It's not on my radar right now, but I do have to ask: I received a postcard a day or two saying that Kate was eligible for the 2007 NAHRA Invitational in June. I certainly don't expect anyone to know she's passed away, but to be eligible isn't it odd that 1) I haven't been a member for years & 2) she hadn't run NAHRA in forever.

She qualified for the NAHRA Invitational years ago having gone 6/7 in Intermediate. I was thrilled as that meant something to me. At the Invitational we qualified & got our big ol' ribbon. I also ran her first Senior (& passed under our esteemed Chris Atkinson-remember the water blind Chris-hehehe).

IF (& I'm just asking here) any former member with a title is now suddenly being invited to the Invitational it (to me) cheapens having had to have so many passes to qualify and be invited.

Dave-I'm not knocking you here & this isn't meant to be confrontational-I just question how my dog was eligible.

Miriam,
I think that any dog that qualified as a MHR, that didn't have the opportunity to run in the Invitational, is invited. If you go to the NAHRA website they expalin it better.

Kate probably went to a regional after her intermediate pass, the invitational is only for MHR, GMHR,& GMHRCH, I believe.

But they had an Invitational in Colorado last year - Flash was "qualified" to run it, but we eneded up getting our entry kicked back and yet this year we recieved another "qualified" postcard.....figured it was a mistake as we haven't run NAHRA in over 2 years....

Lainee,

Here is what the NAHRA website says:

All GMHR and GMHRCH titled dogs are automatically qualified for this and future events. In addition, all dogs earning five senior qualifications or an MHR title since the 2001 Invitational up to 30 April 2007 will be eligible in 2007.

Now you guys are trying to play nice. I might have been interested, but in addition to all the other issues you guys like to play the exclusive card with your web site being members only so a lot of us know squat about you except for what we here on sites that will let everybody play and most of those thing do no favor you.
I deleted my double post. Is that the one that maybe missing? I didn't see any other posts.

So they are making it kind of like a Grand? Where any HRCH can enter?

Is the GMHRCH a new title for NAHRA? Thought it was GMHR, MHR, WR, and SR? Man its been ages since I've looked at a NAHRA rulebook....

Also note, the old man only has his MHR title....guess he got that after 2001, guess he got a by.
