Mayweather has speed and power. Seems to me he has refined his boxing style since I watched him last year. But my money is on Oscar De La Hoya. De La Hoya will fight till the bitter end if Mayweather goes the distance. I expect the fight to go all twelve rounds and someone will get knocked to their knees at one point or another.

I love his Rocky III comparison and also the fact that the hatred in this fight is real, not just played up for the cameras. It should be interesting to watch but De La Hoya doesn't stand a chance.

I think the only chance de la hoya has is to knock him out because I dont think he can go the distance against mayweather and win.Mayweather fights with same intensity in the first round as he does in 12th round,he doesnt tire and de la hoya will..

De La Hoya is a chump. He'll spend the entire fight running from Mayweather! The same way he did against Felix Trinidad...and then just pray for a decision that he won't get!

Can you tell I can't stand Oscar De La Hoya?

Thanks for the link. I agree that this will be the last "great" fight for a long time to come. Not too many young athletes aspire to a boxing career anymore.

Mayweather may be the best pound-for -pound boxer, but De La Hoya can take a hit. If Mayweather is not on his toes Oscar is gonna knock him out. I'm hoping for an exciting fight, no matter who wins, but I'm a De La Hoya fan all the way even if he does have bad taste in haircuts.

Also, off topic but gotta throw this in: GO SHARKS!!!!

I think that the reason that most young fighters don't aspire in boxing is because of the huge success of MMA or the UFC. Did anyone catch Mayweather's comments on how a boxer would fair against Chuck Liddell? Mayweather said that UFC Champs wouldn't stand a chance against a good boxer. I saw Dana White's response and he thought that Mayweather was crazy and also said that he would put the fight together if Mayweather wanted to put his money where his mouth was.

The funny thing is that MMA fighters don't make as much per fight as boxers, but next to football it is still the #2 most popular and viewed sport for males between 18-35 which is the most wanted demographic.

I don't know the context of his remarks, but if he meant that a UFC Champ wouldn't stand a chance in a boxing match then he's right...they wouldn't.

Oscar won't last past the 7th.

UFC fighters would be in shock when they had to put on the 16 ounce gloves which are alot different than the 4 ounce ones they wear.UFC can hit hard but they leave themselves open alot and those big strikers hits wont be quiet as destructive with boxing gloves. There would be some good fights.

Oscar is or was one of THE most talented boxers of all time but his head isnt in it anymore. He lost himself in the fame and fortune. Floyd is possesed plain and simple and will whoop Oscars butt.
But, I really would like to see Oscar take Floyd down a notch or two or three or four!

I've watched them both for years. I think Oscar is the better "man". Meaning I would sit down and have dinner with him. However, Mayweather is younger, quicker, more talented, and stronger than Oscar. This will be a good fight. Just because--like the man said--Oscar can take a punch. Which is a good thing. Because he will be taken them as long as he is standing. Which won't be for the final bell. IMHO

Interesting fight -- likely last "great" fight for some time -- very interesting sidebar with Oscar De La Hoya replacing Ray Mayweather with Fred Roach -- and then Ray "joining" Floyd's camp -- and other side story of Fred's Parkinson's Disease (from too many years of boxing) and how driven he is -- and how driven Oscar is -- whether Floyd takes Oscar or other way around this will be a very good match-up -- I'm not picking winner -- could go either way

Shane and Oscar are also partners in "Golden Boy Enterprises" -- promoters, etc.

I think it'll come down to one of two things. How much speed has DLH lost over the years (he's not seemed as fast lately as he was in his younger days); or the issue will be how will PBF handle someone that much larger than him. PBF will most likely give up 10 or so pounds to DLH, plus he's never fought at this weight limit before. My guess is PBF dances to a boring decision, pot-shotting DLH and DLH's conditioning will be a factor in the later rounds as he tires out.
