John,

Did you ever get my PM about Pat's property in
SC?

Vikki
Thanks Vikki, I passed the information on to the woman who was asking.
Are you coming wp to the canal for any of the Picnic Trials?
We had a big turnout last weekend.

Can anyone participate in the picnic trials? If so how do they work? I'm interested in the qual. Do you have to bring your own birds? If I went I would be coming fro CT for the day.

Yes, any one can enter. They provide the birds. Dead birds are included in your entry fee and if you want a shot flyer, you can pay extra. It's alot of fun and there are some nice folks there. Even John

John - I am thinking about coming, but don't know for sure just yet.

Thanks,
Vikki

Might be a little chilly for a Camo Bikini top but the March Picnic Trial/Training days are set to go on the first two Sat's in March.
Flyers will be available.

Del Bay's double header hunt test (Del Bay and Labrador Retriever Club) is
scheduled for the last full weekend in March while Tidewater's first field
trial is scheduled for the third weekend in March.

Are you ready?

Here's a chance to brush up on handling skills and give your dog that hunt
test/trial experience (s)he needs.

Del Bay has two Spring picnic trials scheduled:

Saturday ... March 5th

Saturday ... March 12th

We will have flyers on a first-come first-served basis. A total of
48 birds have been ordered and when they are gone... that's it. So,
arrive early (oh, around 8:00 should do it), sign-up and reserve your
birds, bring your training gear(chair, pistol, shotgun, etc.) and pre-
pare for a day of fun while honing your skills.

We will try to have at least two set-ups for marks (two for the field
trial folks and two for the hunt-test folks) along with a blind. As
before, we hope to finish mid-noon (say around 2:00-3:00) and accomodate
everyone's needs ... singles, doubles, triples, ... pups, young dogs,
and seasoned veterans.

Show-up ... support your colleagues ... and have a good time.

C&D Canal, Summit Retriever Training Area ... Oh, and please stay on
the main roads --- no field driving, running the dikes, or unnecessary
use of the dike roads --- Grounds will be soft and we want to minimize
damage.

Hope to see you there.

Paul -

There is a Motel 6 in Elkton that I always used. It's right off of Exit 109 (?) on I-95...about 20 minutes to the grounds. Reasonable price. Decent place. Clearly not fancy.

Place there to aire the dogs and get in some drill work as well.

Paul-

John fallon posted premiums for upcoming DelBay & Lab Club tests & it lists all the motels.

I think I've stayed in the Motel 6 Joe is talking about.

Snow has us cancelling this weekend & nobody else can go next weekend, so Kate & I may go solo. Maybe see you there!!

Can anybody who attended today post up what the conditions (snow/cold) were like? We cancelled because of the weather, but I'm thinking about attending on the 12th.

Thanks!! :)

Thanks Jim-
Maybe I made a bad call 'cause it was gorgeous in VT today-I spent the whole day outside.

Would you recommend giving the 12th a go?

I would go, just keep a eye on the weather. I'm sure others that were there today will post later. Will you be attending the HT for Del Bay & Labrador later this month?

That sounds good for the 12th. I REALLY need a break.

As for the hunt tests-I'm torn. Ask anybody who lives up here if they've been able to train. The snow is DEEP. I'm tempted though just because this will most likely be Kate's last year (she's almost 12) & she would have fun.

It is noon on Friday and it looks like we may Dodged the Bullet in the way of any substantial precipitation. So far we have had none - it's 40 deg and sunny as I write, with some more of the same forcast for Saturday.
