First, sorry if this has been asked before...I looked and couldn't find a reference to it.

Now that the various hunting seasons are upon us, I was wondering if you continue to train during hunting season. I'm sure it depends on how often you hunt, but for the sake of argument let's say you only hunt 1 or 2 days a week on average throughout the seasons.

Any comments would be appreciated, too.

Oh ya! The dogs I hunt, client and mine personally, are all trained during the season. I stick to fundementals and I'm very anal about them.

It keeps them sharp and mannerly when hunting. Kinda like taking your kids to the amusement park. We're there to have fun, but we gotta behave....

I train less during hunting season, on days off of work I hunt. During the week 2-3 days I am scouting instead of training. To be successful when you hunt you need to put on the miles scouting. A couple of days shooting a field and then you better find another one. I hunt about a 100 mile circle of where I live. To be successful you need to find the birds and finds birds that don't know every decoy you own by its first name!
