Nice dry fine Hay. Kinda like the timothy hay used for rabbits. Cheap, readily available, is swept out and disposed of easily.

I've always stayed away from anything cedar. Many old-timers (I suppose I'm in that category now :( ) believe that cedar "dulls" the nose. And no, before anyone asks, I have no scientific evidence of this.

I had a dog allergic to cedar - My vet told me to switch to 1st cutting timothy - used for race horses so is not sprayed. Works great!!

I have horses and dogs so my dogs love to hang out in our barn where the hay and straw storage is.
I don't really like them to lay in the straw area because the chaff (I've no idea if this is the word for it) of the straw tends to get into their ears and they are sticky and don't come out anymore. I had some bad earproblems because of that. I prefer them to be in the hay!!

Marsh Grass; way cleaner than straw with limited seeds. Can use on garden in spring. I bed dogs on trailer when temps are expected below freeezing. Be generous; dogs love to make a nest.
