I looked out my old duck call.

It's a Faulks DR66

Lake Charles LA

Does that make me a yankee or a ******* caller?

do they still make them? i had one and loved it! it was nice and soft, great for a soft sell to late season birds.
Pretty sure Faulk is still in business, but they may not still make that model. Though they're just down the road, I've not heard a peep about themin years, other than occasional internet posts like this.

Faulk is very much still in business, Lafayette Shooters has a big array of their calls including predator calls.

For information on their current models, go to; www.faulkcalls.com

Not popular with the competition callers but still in big demand with the hunters.

I think part of this has to do with my chat the other day with Nimrod about the term "Yankee"....

Booty, Rick and a whole lot south of the Mason Dixon can relate to this. I was telling Nimrod that although in the UK, all Americans may be referred to as "Yanks", there is a definite chunk of the U.S. that would not take to kindly to such a term.

- Chris (great-great Grandson of Cornelius Vertillious Atkinson - a private at age 17 who fought for E 15th Alabama at the Battle of Little Roundtop in Gettysburg. He was taken prisoner by the Yanks July 2, 1863, 100 years and 5 months before my birthday)

- born and raised a Yankee, but out of Confederate blood....

History

Wow Chris and I thought I had history

Eleven generations after Captain Beckett from North Yorkshire came to Ireland to fight in the Cromwellian Wars and forgot to go home again!

I have some French blood too....but we'll not go there on this forum!

PS My duck call was getting plenty of use last night. Wife, son and daughter all asked me to stick it somewhere not so polite!

Actually....while true of the southerners , the good folk up north find their heritage is more Norse than French. All part of the English version of the North South divide.

clarence "patin" faulk (1903-1969) was the first person in louisiana to make duck and goose calling records. he was the one that made the first what us cajun-americans squealing calls.
dudley joined his father in 1951 in the business. i knew him personally and after his death i hunted one of his blinds from 1978 through 1987. his mother(irene) lived to be very old and knew more about duck calls then dudley did. they are still in business and the "factory" is about 5 blocks from my house. i have several of patin and dudley's original duck calls. i keep very good care of them. oh. ps. you don't need to know french to use their calls you gotta know how to spit in em. :)
cajun-american regards

Bobby

What a lovely tribute to the man that after all these years his calls are still being used in different parts of the world.

The internet sure has made the world a smaller place.
