I am sure this is going to create a storm but....

I would like some recommendations on an e-collar.

I am a first timer on training with my lab, who is 17 weeks. I want Cobb to most importantly be a great meat dog, but would also like to compete in a few tests / trails. So, what e-collar would you recommend?

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

are all Senior Pro Staff Sponsors for SportDog Collars.
There's others that's just the Flagship crew.

I know some folks that's been using them for years and they come with lifetime warranties. They also come with a Training Manual and a Collar Conditioning DVD.

Tri-Tronics is indeed top of the line
but not everyone can drop $400-$500 on an E-Collar.

I did a search. Found:

There should be lots, but I couldn't figure out how to narrow the search.

Here's some more:

The "Field Series TT's," 90 or up would be a good choice, but my favorite is a Dogtra 1800, similar to the 90's features, simpler controls.
(Mine are 7 and 8 yrs old with new batteries @ 6 & 7 and a repair on one a 7.)

Do you even own or have used an e collar or is this just google knowledge? Cost is only one consideration. I know people who have sold their first collars to buy a Tri-Tronics.

You can find TT collars for less than that and if the OP is considering tests/trials, he's way better off to use a complete program that will take him there vs piecemealing stuff when it's his first dog. TT comes with a manual & video or used to, but if not, they do have a FB page and I'm sure plenty of youtube videos too, for that matter.

I'm in the market for an ecollar as well... are the TT pro 100 and 500 the only two that allow 18 levels of continuous stimulation?

Are there other brands of collars that offer more than 6 levels of continuous?

Sportdog 1825 offers 16 levels, and is a pretty decent collar if you can find one at a good price. That is propbably the only collar I would consider besides a TriTronics (I use a Pro 500 now). However, if you are going to spend $300 on the 8125, then I would look to TriTronics, they really are the best collars out there.

FYI, the TT PRO 100 offers 18 levels of continuous, but only 6 levels of Monentary. The PRO 500 offers 18 levels of both continuous and momentary.

I had a sportdog one of the lower models. Never seemed to be consistent so i sold it and got the TT sport combo. I believe its around $265. It has the 20 levels of stimulus. I love the collar. Great battery life so far TT has great cutomer service and you can run 3 dogs on it and not lose any of the settings. Just switch between the color of the dogs collars.

Dogtra has 127 levels. I have a 2 dog and a single dog that are 10 years old and never had a problem with any of them.

I have a Pro 100, and it has 18 levels of momentary too. Well, depending on how quick my thumb is that day. :D
