there is a time when being right becomes insignificant.

Every so often I frequent the Canon Photography Forum. There is an unwritten rule that almost everyone subscribes to. If a photo is submitted and the OP states "Please criticize.", the replies will be accurate, critical and ruthless. If the request is not there (left out), it is rare for any one to become negative. Replies (if given) will be supportive with something positive to say (if possible).

Tactfully presented alternatives are considered helpful.

Anyone that criticizes (when not invited) is usually chastised for doing so........even if they are right. It does happen, but persistance along those lines is considered really "bad form".

I have no idea why this recently popped into my head. ;)
