Does anyone have a short piece of rope and a tall tree I can borrow. After 7 straight ribbons and the last one to get SH title the wheels fell of Sunday. I would have thought I got the wrong dog out of my truck but there was only one in it. I have been beating myself up since the drive home. The big problem is I really wanted to get her SH title before I have back surgery in 2 weeks. This is my first lab and we were doing so good. I guess they all have bad days sometimes. I guess I'll just go up on the building and jump.

:( Sorry!

I will join you, though... I have one that needs one pass to title MH and qualify for the master national and I'm afraid she's torn her ACL...

It happens. And by "it" I mean "?hit"... LOL

Sorry to hear about bum luck. Good news is that you'll have many years of ribbons ahead of you when you recover!

If everyone who only did good 7 out of 8 times, did themselves in. There would be a lot more parking spaces available. So no I don't have any spare rope. Kudos on all those passes.

Oh for Heaven's sake, I have a dog who ought to be nationally competitive in the obedience ring who was scratched at Friday's trial, NQ'ed on Saturday due to a stupid mistake, and we, as a team, were DISqualified on Sunday because I opted to correct in the ring rather than have her develop a pattern of making that mistake. I figured we'd go three for three in the ribbons, and we didn't get a single greenie.

They're dogs, and sports are for fun. No matter what happens under judgement, you still got to spend the day with your dogs and fun dog people and go home with the best dog in the world. What more could you ask for? A bad day in sports is still better than a good day at work! :D

You really need to get a grip. Or. Send me the dog before you jump, and I'll finish the title.

Seriously, I did have a good time and met some great people the last few weeks. Everytime I run (except the last one) I get comments from other handlers and judges what a nice dog I have so I'm pretty happy with her. This being my first lab I guess I'm pretty lucky.

Better not be running in any Field trials in the future. 7 for 8 will seem like a lottery win 8) It was prolly handler error anyway

So it's the dogs FAULT ? You could do nothing as a handler to prevent whatever happened.

Running a good dog that is running good is not much of a challenge.

Running a good dog that is running himself is what seperates the Joes from the Pros.

Embrace the meltdown & learn from it. You learn nothing from success, everyting from failure.

7 of 8 is a 87.5% passing rate, better than most hunt test Pros

I did make one mistake that caused her a little confusion but her missing the mark was the big problem. As far as pros vs joes I think I'm holding my own. 8 out of 31 passed Sat and the week before 14 out of 37 and I was the only non pro to pass a dog that test

Dude,
She only passed 7 out of 8? I wouldn't own a dog like that. I'd get rid of her. I happen to know someone who has dogs that don't pass EVERY TEST entered, he may be willing to take her off your hands.

GEEZ!! Congrats on the 7 passes...number 8 will come soon enough. Remember, dogs are still allowed to be dogs every now and again!!

Darn right you are! Think of how many dogs and dog owners never know the experiences you and your dog have had already. We are blessed and privileged, and whenever my priorities start to get kitty-whompass, I remind myself of that! :D

Uhhhh....make that two grands and only one test ever failed out of fourteen with that dog  And she's chocolate :) We've always tried to fly under the radar but I don't think we can anymore :) People are actually going to start EXPECTING us to pass now

Don't worry Russ, I think the pro's jobs are very, very, very safe

But seriously, sometimes there's more value in failing and finding holes than passing and overlooking them.

Just b/c I'm a generous guy, and before someone else beats me to the punch...

I'll give you a buck fifty and a bag of Ol' Roy for her - you pay shipping expenses.

trying to help regards,
