The Montgromery trial in December entries:

Open 63
Am 49
Qual 39
Derby 23

Labrador retriever club entries:

Open 68
Am 67
Qual 42

Having these two trials on the same weekend seems to have held the number down quite a bit compared to Shreveport trial

Open 113
Am 70
Qual 51
Derby 38

Or,did you think with the addition of the Labrador club did the numbers actually hurt Montgomery?

In regards to the Montgomery Open, just a few less dogs than last year. There is an NFC and NAFC entered that wasn't there last year and the Pro that won the Open isn't there. Other than that, it's basically the same group of dogs as last year.

I'm assuming these Q/D numbers are for the Montgomery trial.....

I'd bet Mike Crow, Lanse Brown, and anyone else working the Montgomery trial are thrilled with these numbers! I'm sure the judges at both the Labrador and Montgomery trials are happy too!

174 total at Montgomery and 177 total at Labrador w/o a Derby are very manageable numbers. Kudos to both clubs for a responsible conflict!

I think the numbers are small enough so the judges can put on a good test. Much better than having 100 plus dogs running.

Remember the daylight hours are at a premium for December trials. Here in Wisconsin at my place we have had 2 nights of below zero weather and 2 significant snowfalls. Right now at my place it is 12 degrees and snowing. My dog truck and trailer are packed up and ready to go south to Georgia as soon as the weather clears.

Now, I have heard stories about female handler's coming to the line in tight short shorts and the judges were so busy watching the handler's butt that they did not notice what she was doing with her hands to to line up the dog after she called for the marks.

Shayne, where will your eyes be next weekend on the dog or the handler?

I've judged with Shayne before so I can answer this one!!!!!

If the handler is a good looking woman in short-shorts, I would bet money that the dog could break, get the LBD and back to the handler before Shayne would notice!! J/K!!!! :D
