I have a 1 year old lab female that has been forced to pile and does casting drills quite well. I started memory blinds and she has done two things. 1. She flares left on the "back" command when sent from the left side. 2. She will look around like she's not paying attention before I send her. Then on occasion she will no go and then I move her up and send her again and she goes.

Any suggestions?

Kent, what program do you use? What handling drills are you referring to? Did you do force-to-pile, sit-to-pile, then T and double-T? Did you see flaring, bugging, and no-goes then? If so, how did you address it?

When you say memory blinds, I assume you mean pattern blinds? Is the dog two sided, and it flares when it is sent from the left? When you say flares, do you mean that it takes a poor initial line like it's avoiding a hot spot, or does it jump to the left as if it's expecting a stick correction?

When I have a dog bugging, I correct it with a quick heel-nick-heel, step foward, hand down, quick send. But the correction depends on the collar conditioning and how these problems have been handled up till this point.

Did she go through FTP and double T? If so, did she do it then? It might be bugging do to those first steps. You can put a chair in the spot she normally flares. BUT remember, Pattern blinds are use to create drive and confidence during this transition to cold blinds. Others probably have more and better info! Good luck
