We are going to Vegas for an extended weekend - we are not into the shows type of thing, but wanted to know what else is a must see. We will also be on foot - not renting a car so has to be within reasonable walking distance of our hotel which is not on the main strip, but a block or so off.

It used to be you could walk to ypor destination in Vegas!
NO MORE!!! WOW!! has that place grown!!
We purchased tickets (Pass) for the Monorail taht runs thr strip to downtown!

I agree the attraction that lured me most was the arm that extends out from the summit of the straosphere, BUT When I gits there, I could no more get on that thing than fly in the air!! my plams would sweat just watchin others ride it!

I LOVED BLUE MAN GROUP!!!!!!!  --But I'm a drummer!
Diane like them too--She just likes to beat on things!

Take in a Cabaret show!! Well worth the money!!They're so extravagant yas doesnt even notice they're topless!!-----Really!!

Ya have to go into the Venetian and check out the ceilings there!! It absolutly amazing!! They are painted like a sky at different times of the day, and the light changes with them! You SWEAR your really outside!! Just beautuful!!

The gardens at Wynns resort are just amazing! I took over 250 pictures of flowers!!

We also enjoyed New York,, New York!! many different cafe type food places!! Good place for lunch!!

TAKE GOOD COMFORTABLE PAIR OF SHOES!! REALLY!!!!!
Use those shoes to walk the strip at night!!
You think I'm weird!!!  WOW!!! what a show!!

Stop and get a Fat Burger next to Walgreen's just up from the MGM.
Order the king with an egg on top.

I grew up in LV during the late sixties. Don't waste your money on the strip or "glitter gulch". Rent a car and drive a couple hours in any direction to the most interesting and varied topography on the the globe. Take a picnic with you and go to Lake Mead/ Hoover Dam, or go north from there to Valley of Fires S.P. or go northwest to Mt. Charleston, or Southwest to Sandy Valley and on to Death Valley and circle around.
Anyone can just eat, drink and gamble, or watch cookie cutter shows in LV.
Challenge the blind.. Ay?

The BMG sucked! Carrot Top was a riot if that is your thing. Penn and Teller are great. MESA in Caesar’s is tasty but $$$. Barbary Coast for cheap blackjack tables ($5 min). Hit the high roller rooms in any casino you can get in just to watch some of these guys throw down thousands or more on single hands. I was amazed at how many young guys (30-40) that I saw in the high roller rooms, not sure but the feeling I got was dot.com guys.
Do not waste money on a cab, get a bus pass. They have a two level bus that runs up and down the strip that is mostly packed with tourist. It cost $5 for all day I think. Try to avoid it in the evening and morning rush as you will find a good number of locals using it and the bus terminal at the old strip area is rather seedy in rush hour. They make you get off the bus there because it is the end of the line. You have to walk about 30 yards to the other side of the terminal and usually the same bus they made you get off of comes around and picks you up?? Riding in rush hour can be entertaining if you enjoy the local crazies and drunks. Most of the other time it is a nice ride and better than walking or taking a cab. EVERYTHING IS FARTUER AWAY THAN IT SEEMS! You can walk till you drop.
The helicopter ride is a DO NOT MISS!! It is well worth the money.

Hugh,

That will be the next trip - I have always wanted to go to Vegas and play some blackjack, something I've always wanted to do. So that is this go around. Next one is to go see the other sites that NV has to offer....
