AB 1634 requires that all dogs be spayed or neutered by four months of age unless the dog qualifies for a special permit. Many working dogs in
California would not qualify. If all these working dogs are spayed or
neutered, then they would become extinct. Here are some stories about how AB 1634 would hurt specific working dogs.

This is copied and pasted from a post of mine back in June 2006. ACF is fighting, but needs funding. At that point they had filed a lawsuit trying to stop the mandatory spay/neuter bill (now law) in Los Angeles County, but I'm sure it still fits--here and in other states as well.

Subject: THE DOG FANCY STANDS UP TO FIGHT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

FROM ACF

The Dog Fancy is standing up to fight SB861, LA County and other areas of
California !

Donations are flooding into ACF !!! Fanciers from Florida, Texas, Ohio,
Washington, Arizona, and other states are sending donations to fight SB861 !
Donations are coming in to fight LA County, one Dog Fancier pledged
1300.00, we have received several 500.00 donations, our pay pal account is
flooding with 10.00 - 300.00 donations and Breed Clubs have promised to
donate.

Mandatory spay and neuter laws and breeding requirements take away all your
rights to breed purebred dogs giving all control to animal control agencies.
PETA, HSUS, Actors for Animals, IDA, ASPCA and many other extreme animal
rights groups strongly support SB861, LA County and other California cities
that are passing breeding laws.

In LA County you do not have any control over breeding your dogs, and you
can be placed in jail.

With purebed Dog Fanciers restricted puppy mills will sell large volumes of
dogs to consumers in California.

We see Dog Fanciers from other states are very concerned about California
and this is the first time ever there has been that kind of support. ACF
needs to raise 45.000.00 dollars to fight LA County, SB861 and San Francisco
where it all started. We must take down SB861 and stop local governments !

Legal expenses include, experts, discovery, court costs, reserach and
attorney fees.

SB861 was passed on manipulated data provided by animal rights
organizations. In court animal rights organizations have "O" credibility.

In New Mexico which is heavy AR territory breeding laws are passing there
right now. It will not stop there and its showing up like BSL at this time.

With the strong support from the Dog Fancy we can stop the animal rights
agendas in the courts where the judges will see the truth, they will see the
manipulated data, they will see evidence of the real agendas of the AR
movement, they will see the irrational thinking coming from AR groups who
want all dog breeding and ownership to stop. The courts will see the hate
directed at canines.

THE COURTS NEED TO UNDERSTAND WHAT THE ANIMAL RIGHTS AGENDA REALLY IS ?

BELOW IS DATA THAT WILL BE PRESENTED TO THE COURTS !

ANIMAL RIGHTS AND "COMPANION ANIMALS"

"We are not especially 'interested in' animals. Neither of us had ever been
inordinately fond of dogs, cats, or horses in the way that many people are.
We didn't 'love' animals." -- Peter Singer*, Animal Liberation: A New Ethic
for Our Treatment of Animals, 2nd ed. (New York Review of Books, 1990),
Preface, p. ii.

*Peter Singer is the acknowledged founding father and chief guru
of the Animal Rights movement. Singer's disciple is Ingrid Newkirk, who
co-founded People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, also known as PETA.

In a perfect world, all other-than-human animals would be free of human
interference, and dogs and cats would be part of the ecological scheme, as
they were before humans domesticated them and as they remain in some parts
of the undeveloped world.

>From The PETA Statement on Companion Animals

"In a perfect world, animals would be free to live their lives to the
fullest: raising their young, enjoying their native environments, and
following their natural instincts. However, domesticated dogs and cats
cannot survive "free" in our concrete jungles, so we must take as good care
of them as possible. People with the time, money, love, and patience to make
a lifetime commitment to an animal can make an enormous difference by
adopting from shelters or rescuing animals from a perilous life on the
street. But it is also important to stop manufacturing "pets," thereby
perpetuating a class of animals forced to rely on humans to survive." - PETA
pamphlet, Companion Animals: Pets or Prisoners?

"The cat, like the dog, must disappear... We should cut the domestic cat
free from our dominance by neutering, neutering, and more neutering, until
our pathetic version of the cat ceases to exist." - John Bryant, Fettered
Kingdoms: An Examination of A Changing Ethic (Washington, DC: People for
the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA), 1982), p. 15.

"It is time we demand an end to the misguided and abusive concept of animal
ownership. The first step on this long, but just, road would be ending the
concept of pet ownership." - Elliot Katz, President, In Defense of Animals,
"In Defense of Animals," Spring 1997

FROM HSUS

"Human care (of animals) is simply sentimental, sympathetic patronage." -
Dr. Michael W. Fox, HSUS, in 1988 Newsweek interview

"We have no ethical obligation to preserve the different breeds of livestock
produced through selective breeding. ... One generation and out. We have no
problem with the extinction of domestic animals. They are creations of human
selective breeding." - Wayne Pacelle, Senior Vice-President oF HSUS,
formerly of Friends for Animals; Quoted in Animal People, May, 1993

"The life of an ant and that of my child should be granted equal
consideration." - Wayne Pacelle, Senior Vice-President oF HSUS, formerly of
Friends for Animals - In Inhumane Society, 1990

"The life of an ant and the life of my child should be accorded equal
respect." - Wayne Pacelle, Senior Vice-President oF HSUS, formerly of
Friends for Animals, The Associated Press, Jan. 15, 1989

HSUS president John Hoyt hinted in 1986 that the animal-rights movement
might be a means to a larger end, telling Washingtonian magazine: ?This new
philosophy [animal rights] has served as a catalyst in the shaping of our
own philosophies, policies, and goals.? John McArdle, the group?s Director
of Laboratory Animal Welfare, frankly admitted in the same article that HSUS
was ?definitely shifting in the direction of animal rights faster than
anyone would realize from our literature.?

FROM ACF

The animal rights world has no dog lovers in it, they have no right existing
in our country and in court the evidence will show no credibility and
nothing but irrational thinking !

Tha Dog Fancy can take the AR movement down by standing strong and uniting
once and for all to prevail in the high courts of our country. The passion
and support of the Dog Fancy will ensure ACF prevails in the courts of
California. California shelter impounds have gone down 52%, dangerous dog
impounds have gone down, adoption has gone up, there is no overpopulation of
canines in California, mandatory spay and neuter laws will cause the number
of shelter impounds to increase, restrict purbred dog breeding in an attempt
to end it, open the door to puppy mills and if not stopped spread across the
country.

SB861 was passed under the pretense that spay and neutering dogs will
protect the public from being bitten by dogs, the blame is being placed on
dog breeders, accurate data shows us a different agenda. The entire support
list for assisting Senator Speier in passing SB861 was all fueled by radical
animal rights organizations, Senator Speier supports that agenda which is
under federal investigation and the Governor of California signed SB861 into
law. As its stated in our federal complaint, California ignored rational
scientific data and sided with radical animal rights organizations. To ACF
that is outrageous behavior for a government to get away with.

canines !
