I have a question in regards to heat cycle and lyme prevent shots.

My male that I intend to bread to my female both are due for their Lyme prevention shots. She just can into heat and I want to make sure all goes well. Should I go and get the prevention shots now? Or wait until after she has the pups ( we hope )? I just don't want anything to screw this up. She only comes into heat every 9 months so I get one shot a year.

Thanks

Giving a Lymes vaccination will not interfer with her heat cycle or cause any problems with breeding. You do want to update all her vaccinations if they arn't already done before she is bred and is pregnant. If you do it now by the time she whelps and weans the pups she will be fully protected since tick season will be in full swing. You shouldn't vaccinate while pregnant. If she is fully protected then her immunity will be passed onto the pups.

Thank you. I wanted to hear it from someone other than my Vet. Sometimes I feel like the they are only after the money.
