Im talking about the ORIGINAL pealess orange shrouded whistle.

Im not sure who made the original one {maybe marketed by Lucky Dog}
A year or two ago they changed and are I believe now marketed by SportDog
They still look very similar, but for my purposes are not the same. I have a soon to be 7 yr old male that is my primary waterfowl dog; who has lost much of his hearing due to all his time in proximity to close shooting in a blind.

Im not an ear doctor, I'm assuming the original has a different tone or frequency, but For whatever reason he hears the original Answer whistle up to 500 yds, but doesnt hear other whistles.

The discernable differences between the two whistles that I noticed are The original Answer had black sides to the clear whistle inside the shroud, and the shroud had some small embossed printing on the underside of the shroud

I have been repairing my last whistle with glue tape etc for a while, but it sadly has come to the end

It has been a while since I had one and know nothing about the lucky dog model but wasn't the Answer just a Roy Gonia Special with the megaphone shroud? If so, you could get a mega whistle and replace it with the Gonia Special.

There are two mega (black shroud) whistles ..... the Mega w/ the Roy Gonia clear competition whistle inside and the Mega w/ the original orange Roy Gonia whistle inside. Both these whistles have peas. The Answer (orange shroud) is pea-less.

I believe what the OP is meaning that before SportDog took over the Lucky Dog line the whistles sounded different. This isn't the first time I've heard this.

You are talking about the Roy Gonia ORIGINAL ones..The comp clear and the orange(both with and w/o a pea) The same whistles they put in the ORGINAL Mega whistle... the ones by sportdog are 100% pure GARBAGE!!!!!!!!!
