Hi All! New to this stuff so sorry for the dumb questions. Im just the average hunter lookin for a upland and duck dog. But also need a good mannered house pet. I have 2 young kids. Id love to get into the hunt test world. Are fc nfc.....dogs to high powered for me. Want most talent I can get without the bouncing of the wall. Are there fc bloodlines known to be calmer What about color? I see in this world chocolate doesnt get much attention. Is that the case? Are there many acompolished black studs that would throw chocolates out there? Feel free to private message me for kennel and stud recommendations. That would at least give me something to start with! Im also not stuck on a chocolate dog. In my eyes a labs a lab.

Although there may be exceptions to every generalization, when I see a dog bouncing off the walls or having a fit at the line, I don't think "high drive FC bred American FT dog." Rather, I think "marginally trained dog." When I see a calm, well behaved dog with good line manners, I don't think "show dog or low prey drive dog." Rather, I think "Well trained dog." It really depends on how much time/consistency the trainer is willing to put into the dog. So, I would not avoid a well bred FT line dog at all.

Yes, there are FC AFC studs that are black that throw choc. My favorite is FC AFC Land Ahoy (Pirate). He has a website and facebook page. If you get a good female, then the price will be relatively high. You can go to the RTF puppy page classifieds and get an idea of price.

SHR Born to Boogie V (Hank) is by Pirate. There are lots of video clips of me running him on this site. Do an advanced search under my name and they will pop up. He is very calm in the house. When at home he lives inside and sleeps on the bed with his owners, my son and his wife.

No, fc afc dogs are not necessarily too high powered for you. There are some high rollers but with a little investigation you can find out which dogs are calm in the house, etc. A lot are.

There are quite a few choc. dogs that are good. Some people prefer them. Of course, the majority of dogs being run are black. There has been one NFC that is/was choc.

Again research the lab puppy classifieds here and once you see a breeding that you might like then ask for opinions about the dogs being bred.
