I would hate to think what would have happened to me if I had stayed in New Orleans and not evacuated my elderly mother and daughter. Without them, I would have stayed liked my older brother. I'd probably have gotten shot but not before shooting a bunch of looters!

Remember all the lawlessness that engulfed the city right after the hurricane. It lasted for days. What you saw on TV was just the Superdome and the Convention center where those standed were looking for help. What you didn't see was the widespread looting that was taking place all over the city.

So, the mayor in his wisdom decided it best to disarm the law abiding citizens who were on thier property trying to protect it! Neighborhoods formed watch groups that patrolled their own areas. Law enforcement was overwhelmed, so homeowners armed sat out in front of their homes bearing arms to deter any thought of looting. It worked!

Sidenote; Had the Gretna Police Department not stopped peolple from crossing the Mississippi River bridge at New Orleans, the westbank area of the city would have been destroyed. The westbank was not flooded but there was widespred looting as looters tried to burn down the Oakwood Mall. Now, the NAACP is trying to crucify the Gretna police chief as a racist. There was no place for those folks on the bridge to go but to break into homes of the folks that evacuated.

The blame is clearly on the shoulders of Mayor Ray Nagim and Gov Blanko. When the Mandatory Evacuation was ordered, the State Guard should have been called in. They didn't call for the Guard until two days after the hurricane had struck.

Gotta wonder what his contempt charges will cost him. But I fear Nawlins is a questionable commodity, when the people overlooked the obvious and re-elected him anyway. Along the lines of D.C. and their corrupt mayor Berry? (I think that was his name)

So many of the crime-riddled cities in this nation are a product of their corrupt political structure. We can't be too far away from those Capitol One commercials becoming reality, eh?
