I have just switched from Eagle Pack Holistic chicken and rice, to Canidea chicken and rice, and the ingredients are quite similiar, except there is no glucosomine (sp) in the Canidea. Is there even really a very significant amount if any dog food to make a difference, or is there something you all give your dogs to make up the difference?

The latest info I have seen indicates chondroitin and glucosamine are beneficial to growing dogs. For adult dogs glucosamine and MSM are recommended and chondroitin holds no value for them. Same holds true for their by-pedal friends. There is a good thread by Doc E on RTF on this subject.

I have also heard that whatever G/C might be advertised in dog food is not enough. I supplement my dog with Cosamine DS (available at Costco). There is a new brand of supplement, called Dasequin (sp), that some vets are starting to offer that supposed to be good.
