I seen a post a while back but couldn't find it doing a search. Heck I'm not even sure that it was on this site.

How many entries in both a derby and qual before the points or "title" are awarded? Recognized?

Thanks

AKC doesn't say how many entries you need for the first two places of the Qualifying to count as qualified all age dogs. If there was a 2 dog Q and if both dogs finished they'd both be qualified all age dogs.

AKC doesn't award derby points the Retriever Field Trial News does. They require that ten eligible dogs start.

In the US there aren't any titles awarded for Q dogs or derby dogs.

A qual awards 1st through 4th and jams, and the eligibility for the first and second place finishers to run a Limited Open AA stake for the rest of their lives and a Special Open AA stake for the remainder of that calendar year and all of the next calendar year. The number of entries is moot.

A derby awards "points" as designated by the Retriever Field Trial News in its contest for High Point Derby Dog of the year. The AKC doesn't award points, only placements. The number of entries is moot for the AKC, but there must be at least 10 STARTERS for the "points" to count toward the High Point Derby Dog award. 1st=5 pts., 2nd=3 pts., 3rd=2 pts., and 4th=1 pt.

Hope that helps!
