If there is actually a fire we alllll haul ass out to go play but if it's a wreck or medical call someone will stay back at station to finish up. I try and stay back at station since I am the main cook but I am also the FTO for new paramedics so when I have someone I am training in the ambulance I have to go.

Who exactly pays for the food? Those chops look good.

When I first started in Oddessa Tx. in 82 I couldn't believe the food. As a Yankee I learned that in Texas there is no "lunch" just dinner and supper. Gained 10 pounds the first year.

A lot of firehouses require firemen to pay for a lot of their groceries.

Seems like lots of (government) jobs have benefits and perks. Some are a bit over the top, but providing food to firemen ain't too far out of line. (I ain't saying surf n turf every day, but every now and again ain't such a big deal to me).
