Today Dave and I had to make a tough decision. We decided Magnum's quality of life was no longer there. He is now free of pain and running free with Dusty.

Magnum was Dave's first competition dog. Dave only wanted a good hunting dog. We decided to get help in training Magnum to be a good hunting dog so we joined WISILL and the rest is history. Little did we know that Magnum would become a HRCH UH, MH, WC and a 500 point member. Magnum & Dave were able to hunt all over the midwest and Texas.

Magnum's legacy will live on in Ria.

Magnum and his last retrieve last January. This picture is thanks to Carol Belmont.

This is a painting that our good friend Marci Kawalek did for me as a surprise for Dave for our 20th Anniversary last September. This painting means a lot to me and Dave.

Patti so sorry for your loss. Saying good bye is never easy - even when it is the right thing to do. It sure sounds like Magnum lived a wonderful life and has left some great memories behind to help fill the void until you are all together again.

I've never met you or Magnum, but you can tell just by looking at him in the picture of his last retrieve-what a proud dog he was-even as an elder statesman. It's just gut wrenching when they have to turn & go. He brought all those ribbons home out of love for you & there must be memories from each & every one.

Wishing you smiles through the tears-

M

I'm so sorry, Patti. It's never easy... :(

I do love the portrait though. I know it's going to be tough to look at for a while...

Kristi,
We found out that Dusty had cancer about a week after I gave the portrait to Dave. The intension was to hang it over the fireplace. Because Dusty only lived 7 1/2 weeks after being diagnosed, the painting stayed in a guest bedroom. We just couldn't hang the painting where we would have a daily reminder of Dusty. I was just about to the state where I was going to hang it, but now that Magnum is gone, it will be much longer before it hangs.

I do love the painting and someday it will have it's proud place in my living room.
