I recently read on a web page for Idaho Parks and Recreation they had purchased a former privately owned mineral lease that contained the ghost town of Bayhorse. On my former job I worked at the Aberdeen Experiment Station and a friend, who lived in the area, and I used to travel from Northern Idaho to Northern Utah harvesting his research plots took us through this area. We traveled the Custer Motorway along the Yankee Fork of the Salmon River. This was in 1975 and the former freight wagon trail was accessible by 4 wheel drive vehicles. Challis the start of the trail was established in 1876 as a supply depot for the area mines. The following is a photo of the mill in Bayhorse.
I was wondering if anyone has been to this area and if it is suitable to any vehicles now?
