....my daughter would have no luck at all this year.

Earlier we had to put down our chocolate female. This was an older dog my daughter had been running HRC Started tests with since she was 6. They had about 30 started passes together.

Three weeks ago a pup she had been working with from one of our litters broke its neck. She was a fence climber and fell from a 6 foot fence. VERY SAD.

Now a dog that she received from one of the kindest men I have ever met has been diagnosed with a spinal cord problem that causes the dog to loose control of its hind legs. I haven't had the heart to tell her the Vet says it will probably get worse.

My daughter is 12 and bounces back pretty well but she also takes these things very hard. I'm afraid this string of bad luck has kind of zapped her enthusiasm for the dog games this year.

Sorry just releasing as I think about having to tell her about her dogs prognosis.

That poor kid... :( I can see once or twice but three times... Sheesh that's hard to take. When the time is right she'll get a new pup with your encouragement. Lifes lessons are the hardest.....

Kenny,

I'm so sorry to hear this. Your heart must be aching for Alanna. When this involves our own children, it magnifies the pain. Give her a hug for me. And despite all the bad luck, get her back in the saddle real soon. Her best medicine is still another pup.

Ken-

12 is a tough age to begin with, but this is a bit more than any 12 year old ought to go through-especially when she's pouring her heart & soul into these dogs. They're her best friends I bet.

I agree that the best medicine is a new pup. It doesn't disrespect the others to take another chance & there's nothing like puppy breath & kisses. Wish I had a puppy I could send her.

Hang in there-

sucks to hear this, I had my first dog that I trained my self taken from me at less than 2 years old, got hit by a truck right in front of me...I immediatley got a new pup and the next year on mothers day my parents had the dog on the pontoon boat and the dog unexpectedly jumped off the front and was chewed up bad by the motor...had to be put down dockside.

I was 16-18 years old...never thought I'd have a dog break the 2 year old mark...I did though.

Lifes lessons are tough but the mind is tougher...tell her to keep her head up and keep on truckin!
