As a novice trainer, I have struggled to understand swim by. This video popped up on my YouTube feed today. I liked it so much that I subscribed to the channel.

I just love it because it is such a good video showing what the dog is doing and what the trainer/handler does in response. Thought it might be useful for less experienced trainers who might visit this forum.

One concept that is important to teach in swim-by is "treading water".
By "treading water" the retriever maintains canine-human eye contact and
must patiently WAIT for cast instructions from the handler.

Swimby is not just for basics. It is a skill that can be maintained througout the life of
