I also want to thank our judges, Paul Young and Bill Blochowiak for putting on a nice Derby test. Also Thanks to LCRC for their dedicated workers. The grounds are beautiful. We are definitely entering Colonial's FT that will also be held in beautiful VT at the end of September.
Congrats to all, especially Stan Chiras for taking 1st and second. His dog, Samatha ran beautifully even with 4 no-birds!
Thanks Andy & Frank
This was my first field trial placement handling Darla, my first FT dog. We had previously taken home 2 Q greenies with me handling. She is trained by Hugh & Al Arthur.
This time out we ended up with 4th place in the Q.
The land setup was something you rarely see in a Q. She did well on this triple with an over and under setup where the long retired (Both thrower and bird) was under the arc of a short (50 yd) hand winger launched dead bird. A big throw that looked more like a flyer than the actual flyer did.
She 1 and 2 whistled the blinds, good dog.
On the water triple with flyer and long retired, she missed marked the middle bird that was thrown from and onto a three yard wide piece of land in front of a second piece of water. It was a real short mark so she got in the second water but quickly came back and sorted it out.
She spanked the long retired, angling into both pieces of water on the way out.
We had a good week training on grounds in the area and on trial day she turned in a pretty respectable job.
