Mr. Atkinson has done a wonderful job with running and maintaining RTF for the past 13 years. He has the best resource for retriever training and information on the web and is the only site of this type I regularly visit.

He has now asked that new members follow strict registration procedures and has also been kind enough to grandfather old members. In the past there has been a name change push. Many of you stepped forward and changed from handles to real names. Maybe it s time for everyone to step forward and use your real name.

My request is that all of the old members step forward and use their names rather than handles. There is nothing to hide. When registering with Entry Express, Gooddoginfo, AKC, and other dog related resources we all have to use our real names. The excuse that you want to maintain privacy does not hold water as anyone can google anyone in todays world of the Internet and find you on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, or other social media sites.

Let's use our real names, get to know each other, exchange ideas in a civilized manner, and continue to make this a great resource as Mr. Atkinson has intended.

while I have been a proponent of real names for a very long time and always used my real name and snapshot of myself as my avatar. I cannot help but think that the same glee and feeling of winning that the hate filled extremist have when we all jump through hoops at the airport now. Is being felt by our RTF terrorists as I type. It saddens me that the Moosegooser title will not be seen. And when Danielle Rosalie Pellicci types her full name, I get the voice of 1970's Saturday Night Live character Rosanne Rosanna Danna, in my head. And that also saddens me. I was hoping for an.. um... "less abrasive" mental image. You are runnindawgz just as MooseGooser and Badbullgator should be as you were in the beginning, are now and ever shall be. Given that there are at least 4 "Mark Edwards" that are involved in running dogs in various parts of the US and Canada, and people are forever confusing us (esp a certain friendly e-collar company), I think it would confuse things even more if I changed my screen name. But my "real name" has always been in my signature line.

Along with what Ken said, Nancy is dead on. If we change the culture, eliminate the "classics" so to speak, then what are we?

Michael, please change your name back to MooseGooser...put your name in your signature line if you must, but MooseGooser HAS got to live on. If not, we might be condemned to a life of normalcy...and as anyone who owns dogs knows, normalcy does NOT enter into the equation....

Ditto Ken, KG and Nancy. I understand and totally sympathize with Chris and the reasoning for it all, but, feels like RTF is losing something and the scumbag gets in another jab. RTF without Moosegooser, Bubba and the rest of the assorted cast of characters just isn't RTF. Sad seeing Michael Baker and not Moosegooser. Sadder still some dirtball like this person, one can only hope they meet up with some justice sooner rather than later.

I have probably reset over a hundred usernames in the last 24 hours. I really do appreciate the offers.

Please hold off on any more name change requests for now.

My PM box has filled twice in the last few days. What may seem like just a few button clicks to change one becomes a lot of time when they are all added together!

Don't sweat usernames like Moosegooser and stuff. We'll get all that sorted out later.
