Been training searches for game/dummies over a big area with a training buddies dog who just stops/does not go out after 2 or 3 retrieves/searches. Do not really know why the dog quits. Anyone got any ideas on how to do to fix this?

training

It would help if more information were provided. How old is the dog? What training has he done before? What training program has been followed?

From the description you have posted it sounds as if you are hiding bumpers and having the dog hunt them up? This with a young dog might be pretty boring? If the dog has poor desire then doing more marked retrieves might help.

Thanks! Yes it is hidden bumpers/dummies. It is a flat coat owned by a friend so do not know that much. Her first retriever and possibly too much steadiness training. Will more marked retrieves build desire also for the hidden ones?
